Reverend Charles L. Nichols passed away on Saturday, August 9, 2014.
The Rev. Charles L. Nichols, 71, of Brandon, Fla., passed away Saturday, Aug. 9, 2014, at Tampa General Hospital after a short illness Born in Bristol, he lived in Florida since 2005. Rev. Charles was an ordained minister of the United Church of Christ and was a Palliative Care and Trauma Chaplain at Tampa General Hospital. He previously was pastor at Bartlett Congregational Church in Bartlett, N.H., and also had been employed at Aetna Life and Casualty in Hartford, and Time Warner in Tampa.
Surviving is his wife, Barbara (Litke) Nichols of Brandon; a daughter, Victoria Chandler of Southington; a son-in-law, Douglas Chandler of Southington; a stepson, Brian Litke of Brandon; five grandchildren, Morgan and Devon Chandler of Southington; Brianna and Daniel Litke of Delaware, Ohio; and Daniel Livesay of Sawyer, Mich.; three sisters, Maureen Cosmos-Rebner of Thomaston; Patricia Gaski of Wellington, Fla. and Ernestine “Tina” Clegg and her husband, Richard, of Middletown; many nieces and nephews. Charles was predeceased by his parents, Romila and Theresa (Lathrop) Nichols; his daughter, Jacqueline “Jackie” Livesay and his former wife, Cheryl Geoffrey-Nichols.
A memorial service was held Saturday, Sept. 13, 2014, 11 a.m. at First Church of Christ Congregational, 830 Corbin Ave., New Britain, CT 06052, followed by interment in the church’s memorial garden.
